Trent V Building

Vision

Our founding pastors John and Debby Wright started Trent Vineyard in 1996. They transitioned the leadership to John Bodily in 2023.

Small at first, a group of people excited about the vision met in a hotel function room. It has since grown into a large, vibrant and contemporary church in Nottingham.

As well as teaching others about Jesus and providing a space to worship God, Trent Vineyard is committed to serving the city, helping the poor, the disadvantaged and the socially excluded.

To find out more about our vision and values you can watch or listen to the latest Vision talk below.

Join us for our Vision Sunday service on Sunday 09 February 2025 to hear God's vision for our church for the upcoming year.

Vision Statement

God has called us to build a biblical, growing, and diverse church in Nottingham, which will, in a creative and contemporary way, in the power of the Holy Spirit, worship God and communicate the gospel with compassion and generosity. We aim to make, train, and equip disciples to be effective in the extending of God's Kingdom, to develop leaders, to plant new churches, and to contribute to the blessing of the whole Body of Christ.

Vision 1996 - Update

In this podcast you will hear excerpts from the original vision recordings in 1996, commentary and updates from John and Debby from 2019. This podcast gives a great explanation of why we do what we do and why we do it all for Jesus and His glory.

Our Hallmarks

As well as our Vision Statement, which describes what we do as a church, we have seven Hallmarks: words and phrases that describe how we do what we do. They describe the type of community and people we want to be.
They are:

1. Outward-Looking

We want to be a blessing to those around us, to extend God’s love to our city and beyond.

Come and see Jesus, go and tell everyone, everywhere.

"Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation." Mark 16:15

    2. Servant-Hearted

Jesus came not to be served, but to serve. In the same way, we want to serve each other and those around us with the gifts and abilities that God has given us.

      - "Everyone wants a revolution, no one wants to do the dishes!" Tish Harrison Warren
"Now that I, your Lord and teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another's feet." John 13:14

      3. Compassionate

There are over 2,500 references to caring for those in need in the Bible. God is compassionate and invites us to extend his compassion to others.

"The Lord is full of compassion and mercy." Psalm 103:8

        4. Generous

It is more blessed to give than to receive. We see generosity as an expression of our worship. We want to be generous in everything we do.

"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal." Matthew 6:19-20

          5. Doing Things Well

We want everything we do to be done to the best of our ability as an expression of our worship and gratitude to God. He deserves our very best.

"God saw all that he had made, and it was very good." Genesis 1:31

            6. Relational

We aim to follow Jesus' example when it comes to building relationships and community.

"In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus." Philippians 2:5

              7. Naturally Supernatural

We believe that God moves in power today, and that we have been empowered by the Holy Spirit. We want to press into the supernatural works of God, like prophecy and healing, but in a natural, everyday way.

"Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these." John 14:12
